Glossary.DescriptionMetaphors are defined as mappings from a s
Metaphors are defined as mappings from a source domain to a target domain.

Each metaphor entry specifies this mapping at two levels:

  • At the frame level, each metaphor specifies a Source Frame and a Target Frame (the source and the target, respectively, of the frame-to-frame mapping)
  • At the role level, mappings are specified unidirectional links from Source Frame roles to their corresponding Target Frame roles.
Mapped roles should, at least in principle, be of compatible semantic types. For instance, an entity will be mapped to an entity, and a process to a process.
